The students of Chiranjiv Bharti School found ways to express their
environmental commitments through Earth Day that was celebrated
with great aplomb on 22nd April. The celebrations were a part of the
SCIMA Digital Enhancement Project implemented in the school by
Learning Links Foundation with support from Dell YouthConnect Program.
The day began with a special assembly. The middle school put up a skit highlighting
the conservation of trees while the senior students read out a passage & elaborated
on water conservation. The school choir gave a beautiful rendition of Michael Jackson's
"Earth Song" that echoed their sentiments.
The students wore badges & green ribbons to show solidarity to the motion. They
took up the pledge of the 3R's - Reduce, Recycle & Reuse for 'Better Earth;
Better Tomorrow'. The students of class VI expressed their feeling for Environment
and Mother Earth through their creativity by putting up posters on the theme "Make
the Earth a Better Place" while class VII & VIII worked in groups to make utility
items bringing to the fore "Best out of Waste". They also decorated the
school foyer with a Rangoli created from waste materials of like broken glass &
sawdust.
The staff pitched in their mile during the special recess. A lamp to spread the
message of conservation was lit by the Head of the Departments and a cake with the
message of 3R’s to save our planet as a token reminder of their collective responsibility
to the Earth was cut. A lovely song with the message “Aao Sathiyo, Hum Sab Milker
Swarg Dhara Par Laaye” composed by Mrs. Rekha Goel, was also sung by teachers to
add momentum to the celebrations.
Mrs Rashi Narula, Principal CBS aired the aspirations of the teachers & students
by releasing a bunch of green & white balloons for a 'Better Tomorrow'.
Not to be outdone the community children taking part in the explore@myworld.com
program that focuses on Digital Literacy skills in a 21st century environment
contributed their bit towards the celebrations of Earth day by making Posters, Presentations
on water and energy conservation and safe disposal of hazardous waste. The students
actively participated and brought awareness in their neighbourhood and encouraged
their parents & friends to bring about a change in the community.
The community students felt they were a part of the nodal school and took great
pride in contributing to make the Earth a better place to live.
