Education today needs to be transformed to make it more interesting and challenging
for children of the 21stcentury.Showcasing this change is the "SCIMA
Digital Enhancement" and 'explore@myworld.com' program
being implemented by Learning Links Foundation at the Government High School Uttarahalli,
Bangalore in collaboration with Dell's signature program 'Dell YouthConnect'.
Dell's vision is of creating a generation of young people across the globe prepared
to connect and in India this is being initiated by Learning Links Foundation as
its strategic partner.

To be a part of the change which is enhancing learning for students, Dell officials
Mr. Ravi Bharadwaj, General Manager, SMB – Dell India, Mr. Satyen Vyas, Enterprise
Director, Dell India and Department of State Education Research & Training (DSERT)
Officers Mr. Venkatesh, Deputy Director & Ms. Prateema Devi, Sr. Asst. Director,
visited the Government High School Uttarahalli, on the 12th March 2010,
to have a firsthand experience of the project implementation.

The event left a lasting impression in the minds of the officials. They viewed projects
that not only focused on the mastery of technology tools but also addressed social
causes like 'Power Conservation', 'Ill effects of smoking', & 'Child
Labor'. The demonstration and interaction with the students by the officials
created a strong impact. The students shared how they wanted to make a difference
in their communities and discussed how they wanted to do it. The officials meanwhile
expressed their happiness about the project and felt it was indeed transforming
the way education is imparted to the generation of today.

been a radical change in the teaching learning process and more importantly the
attendance has improved drastically by 20% ever since the program started. This
is a history on our school records".

The officials were also oriented on the objectives of the program and the various
interventions carried out in the academic year by Mrs. Syeda Yasmin, Principal of
the Government High School, Uttarahalli, Bangalore. She expressed her happiness
at the program and felt that since the inception of the program in October 2009,
a number of initiatives have been taken up in the school which has brought about
remarkable changes in the teaching and learning process. She mentioned that till
date more than 500 community students have been trained in Bangalore through this
initiative.
The guests were thereafter given a tour of the Knowledge & Resource Centre established
in the school. The teachers shared their experience on the activities that were
initiated to promote a scientific temperament in the students. They shared their
experiences and explained how smart class as a tool helps to explain abstract and
vague topics and revolutionizes learning for a better understanding. The guests
were also given an orientation on the instant assessment technique 'The Smart
Assessment System' (SAS) practiced by the teachers to promote formative assessment.
The evening concluded on an encouraging note. Mr. Venkatesh, Deputy Director, DSERT,
expressed this positivity in his concluding speech.
"I am very happy at the collaborative initiative of Dell and LLF for promoting
a 21st century learning environment through technology aided learning
and community development in the school program". He felt other schools would
also be inspired to take up this initiative.
