Colors for Life
‘There is joy in my heart when I see the colors on the screen’
Rohit found his vocation when he sat in front of the computer screen on the Paint
program for the first time.
The vibrancy of the colors and the sheer exuberance of their hues filled his heart
with joy. While the others struggled Rohit felt that he was meant to be there. Now
many digital cards and other creative endeavors later Rohit feels that the Dell
Youth Connect program has directed him to his destiny.

A class V student of New Cambridge School Rohit‘s father is a very humble painter
and works in a small factory. His profession as a painter has had great influence
on Rohit. He has always loved to play with colors and was often found doodling on
the back pages of his tattered notebooks. Yet he never thought of pursuing art as
his career. Like his father he wanted to take up a painting job that would help
him earn money for his family.
Rohit’s teacher had told him about the free training on digital literacy being provided
for community children by Dell and Learning Links Foundation. Always keen to learn
computers, Rohit had signed up excitedly.
He enjoyed the training a lot but it was when he started using the Paint Brush program,
that he discovered real joy.
He was completely at ease with digital drawing.While his friends struggled to draw simple objects, he was able to create complicated
figures. He was creative and also had a very good sense of color combination. Within
no time he became the ‘Star’ of the batch.
For his project he prepared a layout of an ideal neighborhood that stood out amongst
other student’s work. He took the initiative and even prepared a ‘Diwali Card’ that
was presented to the officials from Dell during their visit to Chiranjeev Bharti
School, Gurgaon.

Rohit is now aware of the talent he possesses and dreams of participating in Shankar’s
Painting Competition (a large painting competition held in Delhi each year). He
is very grateful to the exploremyworld.com Curriculum by LLF & Dell in guiding him
to discover his talent.
He dreams of becoming a Graphic Designer and gaining recognition.
