A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Learning Links Foundation and the
National Cooperative Union of India on June 16, 2010, marking the beginning of a
strategic partnership that aims to develop economic sustainability amongst the youth
of the country. The first project undertaken is to create an awareness of the Cooperative
Movement in identified schools and communities of Gujarat.
The content of the program being designed by the Learning Links Foundation includes
an understanding of the cooperative sector, through teaching and learning methods
engaging students in real life settings. It also supports development of curriculum
related learning activities enhancing essential 21st Century Skills (cooperation,
collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking, digital literacy, entrepreneurship,
financial management) through project and activity based approaches.
LLF will undertake capacity building of NCUI’s program coordinator and selected
resource persons after which the NCUI team will train School leaders, teachers and
students through hands-on interactive sessions and workshops. The desired outcome
of the project is the development of mock cooperatives through an experiential learning
for students that will go a long way in shaping the nation’s socio economic progress.
Selected schools will be adopted and developed as centers of excellence, where LLF
will support NCUI for the critical activities of Institution Building & Implementation,
so as to ensure deep rooted benefit to the stakeholders
The adoption of the project based approach will showcase success of the students
and teachers to the community. This will motivate other members of the community
to also emulate these activities. LLF will guide NCUI for development of networks
of trained and motivated teachers and students to help sustain the overall impact
of the project. Both the partnering organizations will also undertake a periodic
review along with structured monitoring and evaluation initiatives to ensure effective
implementation of project goals.
